Jimmy Rollins is taking advantage of his World Series title.

On Thursday, he’ll appear on The Late Show with David Letterman. We’ll see if he makes any predictions on this season while in New York City.

But more importantly, he’s featured in this commercial from Dick’s Sporting Goods. It gives a good laugh.

Blago vs. Letterman. Bets?

Rod Blagojevich can’t get enough of himself.

He made his daytime TV travels last week instead of attending his impeachment trial. A lot of good that did.

And now, according to The Late Show‘s Web site, it’ll be Blago vs. Letterman Tuesday night.

We’ve seen Letterman rip O’Reilly (“I have the feeling about 60% of what you say is crap. But I don’t know that for a fact. I’m just spitballing here,” Letterman says to O’Reilly). We’ve seen Letterman praise Obama. So…what’s he gonna do with Blago?

Can’t wait to find out.

Last week, Letterman ran repeats.

Typically, I resent him for that. It’s a random week not too long after the holidays, and he already takes a week’s vacations. He may have his reasons, but still, I feel slighted.

Regardless, I was able to catch up on my missed or favorite past episodes.

Again, I realize I’m late on this. But better late than never.

Since March 2006, David Letterman has presented a segment on his show called “Great Moments in Presidential Speeches.” Last Friday, however, the show ended the segment (this week, Letterman’s off). However, in proper Letterman fashion, he doesn’t just leave us hanging.

It’s one thing when Sen. John McCain cancels an appearance on Letterman because of a financial emergency.

But then, like a cheating significant other, he’s caught being interviewed (live) by Katie Couric for the CBS Evening News.

Letterman wasn’t happy about this. He was never a fan of Sarah Palin, but he loves McCain (he loves Obama a little more, however).

This nine-minute video is worth the watch…

Letterman’s still got it.

Concerned that ignorant Americans know little about the great state of Delaware, Dave Letterman has decided to air a nightly segment introducing us to the state represented by Vice Presidential nominee Joe Biden.

Now, as you can tell, the clip continues on the plagiarism past of Biden. And at the end, McCain “approves” his message.

Jokes about McCain’s age are entirely cliche nowadays. They’re way too overdone. But every now and then, one works. It’s got to be creative, witty and non-repetitive. And I think Dave’s does it Tuesday…

As an avid watcher of The Late Show of David Letterman, I’m left to wonder about the state of politics. Many people ask comics who they want to win the presidential election so the jokes can continue. But I think we’ll be forgetting what we’ll be losing by focusing on what we’ll be getting.

Of course, I am referring to the nightly feature, “Great Moments in Presidential Speeches,” which begins with two clips from well known presidential speeches followed by a not-so-great Bush moment. For an example, check out the hilarious compilation below.

I don’t care about your politics, but you have to admit – watching more than four minutes of Bush trying to say things really humanizes him, doesn’t it? OK, so he can’t always get the right words out when prompted. He misspeaks sometimes. But we all have those issues. Like the stress of being the leader of the free world doesn’t get to him every now and then.
