I know I’m a little late in posting about the inaurugation, but, as usual, CNN.com provides us with an excellent resource for general use.

It’s been 220 years since George Washington’s inauguration, so what a better time to celebrate. CNN provides us with the full text and, where available, video of every president’s inaugural speech — except poor Gerald Ford, who never had one. That’s what he gets for never being elected.

Now, despite it being two days after the Inauguration, CNN may have forgotten about this special page since it is not updated with Obama’s text and video. Regardless, it’s fascinating to watch FDR in 1933 and 1946.

That’s my educational lesson for the day.

Ketzel Levine worked for NPR for more than 30 years. Her most recent series involved her traveling the country, reporting on how to survive in the struggling economy. It was an idea she developed and began in September in the first weeks of the economic downturn.

Ultimately, however, she would be reporting on herself. Half-way through her series about staying employed in a struggling economy, NPR announced a 63-person layoff, Levine included.

She’s able to laugh at it now — as seen in this CNN interview — and her final report in the series was a narrative about her own story.

Just another reason to stay in school as long as possible. Or, another reason to move to Lubbock.

I hit 100 percent of the notes on “Radium Eyes” last year. Granted, it’s not the most difficult song. But it’s a proud accomplishment on expert.

CNN presents an article that says Guitar Hero is saving rock and roll. The kids playing the game are becoming fans of the songs on it.

I can second that argument. My iPod has had many songs added to it thanks to Guitar Hero. My favorite addition — “Less Talk More Rokk” by Freezepop.

CNN feature reporter extraordinaire Jeanne Moos knows this and lets us know about it.

I did a report on Ms. Moos in sophomore year — a paper I’m very proud of titled Making the Moost of It. It was an analysis of her work — what makes it successful following the CRAP model (color, repetition, and two other words I’ll let others let me know through comments).

But here’s another video from Ms. Moos. It won’t be the last from me.

Anheuser-Busch is no longer American-owned. Rather, it’s Belgian. That doesn’t settle well, does it?

Next thing we know, the great American chocolate bar will be next. Let’s somehow stop that from happening. I don’t know how. Just somehow. Oprah’s probably behind it all.

CNN.com, the multimedia source that it is, provides a slideshow of American businesses eventually bought by foreign entities. And the most surprising?

Apparently, the government of Abu Dhabi recently (as in July 2008) purchased 75 percent of New York City’s Chrysler Building.  A German firm owns the other quarter.

Comforting to know that a Middle Eastern country owns a very tall, well-known building in NYC, isn’t it? Nothing personal against the UAE, but still…

To begin, let’s read some insightful words from one of America’s great leaders.

Mankind — that word should have new meaning for all of us today.

We can’t be consumed by our petty differences anymore.

OK…so that was Bill Pullman’s presidential character in Independence Day, but regardless… It’s July 4th! One of my favorite holidays – the truly American celebration of America.
