Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman. Words cannot describe. Only first-hand evidence can.
Blago vs. Letterman. Bets? February 3, 2009

Rod Blagojevich can’t get enough of himself.
He made his daytime TV travels last week instead of attending his impeachment trial. A lot of good that did.
And now, according to The Late Show‘s Web site, it’ll be Blago vs. Letterman Tuesday night.
We’ve seen Letterman rip O’Reilly (“I have the feeling about 60% of what you say is crap. But I don’t know that for a fact. I’m just spitballing here,” Letterman says to O’Reilly). We’ve seen Letterman praise Obama. So…what’s he gonna do with Blago?
Can’t wait to find out.
In the mean time, here’s a great video from Letterman — the Post Inauguration Roundup.

Again, I realize I’m late on this. But better late than never.
Since March 2006, David Letterman has presented a segment on his show called “Great Moments in Presidential Speeches.” Last Friday, however, the show ended the segment (this week, Letterman’s off). However, in proper Letterman fashion, he doesn’t just leave us hanging.
Here is the ultimate tribute to “Great Moments in Presidential Speeches,” and I promise you, it features all your favorites.
Radio rebranding a zing to the B? January 13, 2009

The commercials are now all over the local Philadelphia networks. A new, reformatted radio station is coming to the market — Now 97.5.
Its commercials feature everyday people saying things to this effect: “Not my mom’s 101″ or “Not the same old 101.” The words might be a little off, but the gist is the same.
So, I instantly think instant zing to B101, playing today’s soft rock music.
Soft rock is soft rock, is it not? What could 97.5 do that 101.1 doesn’t do? Not play Elton John?
So I visit the 97.5 Web site, on which they feature the most recently played songs. And the third one (and fifth, for that matter) on the list of eight disproved my theory…
- Sugar Ray – Fly
- Rob Thomas – Lonely No More
- Weather Girls – It’s Raining Men
- Daughtry – Home
- Rod Stewart – You’re In My Heart (The Final Acclaim)
- Sheryl Crow – My Favorite Mistake
- U2 – With Or Without You
- Timbaland Feat. OneRepublic – Apologize
And since when is Timbaland soft rock?
U.S. to claim world’s oldest person January 4, 2009

Women generally live longer than men. That we generally know (yet seldom admit).
Just last week, America’s oldest man passed away at 112 years old. But a 114-year-old woman is slated to become the oldest person in the world.
Gertrude Baines from California said she led the life God wanted, which has contributed to her life’s longevity.
Baines takes the title from Portugal’s Maria de Jesus, who held the title for just more than a month. Prior to that, the record was back in the United States with Indiana’s Edna Parker, who had the title for more than a year.
It just so happens that Parker is a local Philadelphia celebrity. She was featured in the very popular Cut to the Chase column, “Notable deaths of 2007: gone but not forgotten.”
Small world, eh?
Total Finale Live… Finally. November 15, 2008

Remember Total Request Live? And Carson Daly? And how the show got cancelled? I thought I did, too, but it’s still on. Until tomorrow.
TRL is having its Total Finale Live tomorrow at 8 p.m. And guess who the host is…
It’s only fitting that Carson Daly is being brought back to host the final TRL ever. It’s funny — it seems TRL has been on so much longer than 10 years, but it’s safe to say it was doomed for failure once Daly left to attempt to be a late-night host.
Should be fun and star-filled. I’ll be watching.
Trivia: Britney Spears’ second hit single, “Sometimes,” was the first video to make its world premier on TRL. And I didn’t even have to look that up. I was in sixth grade.

Over the course of this season, I’ve been involuntarily sucked into Grey’s Anatomy yet again.
It was against my will. But the ridiculousness seemed to dissolve, so I figured I’d entertain ABC. And then, they brought Denny back to life…kinda.
If I were a Hollywood writer/creator/producer/souvenir shop owner, I’d like to think I’d know better than to throw a tangible ghost story into what is supposed to be a realistic hospital drama. (No offense to ghost enthusiasts.)
Matt Roush agrees with me. Or, I agree with him, since he wrote his thing first. Let’s call the whole thing off.

Yes.
CBS3 compiled a list of celebrities known to lean toward the right. It’s an entertaining look since 98.3 perecent of celebrities have Democratic tendencies.
Some surprising names on the list for me: Kelsey Grammer, Bruce Willis and Mike Ditka.
On a side note — the YouTube link above is from CBS. Note the advertising — as of Oct. 12 — next to the video… And in case it changes, look at the screenshot below…

I was shocked that I only heard at nearly 6 p.m. tonight that Tina Fey reprised her role as Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. I like the touch of Katie Couric, as well, portrayed by a very pregnant (and former Hillary Clinton) Amy Poehler. It doesn’t get better than those two together.
Therefore, I bring you this clip.
It’s not as great as the original, but still worth a bunch of chuckles. All hail Tina Fey.
McCain ditches Letterman for Couric September 25, 2008

It’s one thing when Sen. John McCain cancels an appearance on Letterman because of a financial emergency.
But then, like a cheating significant other, he’s caught being interviewed (live) by Katie Couric for the CBS Evening News.
Letterman wasn’t happy about this. He was never a fan of Sarah Palin, but he loves McCain (he loves Obama a little more, however).
This nine-minute video is worth the watch…
Just a year and a half ago, this was the scene — McCain announcing his bid for presidency on the same show…
