Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman. Words cannot describe. Only first-hand evidence can.
Why I love internships February 12, 2009

I am currently an intern at Fox 29 in Philadelphia. The experience so far has been great, and I’ve been able to do a lot of things.
One of the duties of an intern is to answer the phone, of course. This may sound as fun as riding SEPTA at 1 a.m., but it can actually be quite fulfilling. That’s because of phone calls like this:
Me: “Fox 29, Chris speaking.”
Caller: “Yeah, I’m calling to request that you put someone back on American Idol you kicked off last night.”
Me: “Sir, this is Fox in Philadelphia. We have nothing to do with the production of American Idol.”
Caller: “There’s no one you can call?”
Me: “No, sir. That was all taped in the fall. It’s already done.”
Caller: “That’s not right, man. Thanks anyway.”
Me: “Have a good night, sir.”
Just another day in the life.
What’s a number worth? February 3, 2009

$365,000. That’s how much…for now.
As I reported just yesterday, the number made famous by Tommy Tutone is up on eBay. You could be Jenny, if you want.
At the time, bids were around $5,000. They’ve gone up a bit since then.
That’s $1,000 per day of the week. I’d think most of us wouldn’t mind having that as a salary.
Stay tuned.
Blago vs. Letterman. Bets? February 3, 2009

Rod Blagojevich can’t get enough of himself.
He made his daytime TV travels last week instead of attending his impeachment trial. A lot of good that did.
And now, according to The Late Show‘s Web site, it’ll be Blago vs. Letterman Tuesday night.
We’ve seen Letterman rip O’Reilly (“I have the feeling about 60% of what you say is crap. But I don’t know that for a fact. I’m just spitballing here,” Letterman says to O’Reilly). We’ve seen Letterman praise Obama. So…what’s he gonna do with Blago?
Can’t wait to find out.
In the mean time, here’s a great video from Letterman — the Post Inauguration Roundup.

I [wish I] got it. (I got it.) I got it.
According to the CNN, a New Jersey man is selling his phone number — which just so happens to be 867-5309 — on eBay. He’s hoping to make $40,000.
The lucky SOB got the number for free a few years ago. If Tommy Tutone were dead, they’d be rolling in their graves.
The article also mentions a Philadelphia guy who happens to have the same number…
A Philadelphia-area resident who holds the toll-free versions — both 800 and 888 — said he values his numbers in the millions.
Jeffrey Steinberg said his best offer so far, rejected several years ago, was for $1 million from a national weight-loss company.
I wonder which one…
I think having that number worth so much in the world of pop culture would be worth the hassle of getting the curious calls. Don’t you?
