I’m not alone in my love for television themes.

Well, maybe I am. Josh Groban was probably just paid a lot of money to sing a long medley of the best television themes in television history.

Kudos to the YouTube member for getting this up so quickly. This, in addition to the “In Memoriam” slideshow, Betty White and Don Rickles, was the highlight of the night.

The most boring implosion ever September 21, 2008

The Miami Arena is no more. I think.

The small sports/concert facility in Miami was buried today at 20 years old — relatively young as far as stadium implosions go (just wait for Yankee Stadium).

But I don’t understand the hooplah over this one. A few explosions cave the ceiling in, and that’s about it. Yankee Stadium better put on a show.

I wonder what Susan Barnett‘s contract says.

CBS3 officially announced in April that Philly-area native Barnett assumed the role left vacated by Alycia Lane – lead anchor at 6 and 11 p.m.

However, after the Larry Mendte saga, no such press release was…released. We, the unassuming viewers of local television news, were to assume that anchor/reporter Chris May permanently took the position.

Apparently, not so.

Philly.com is reporting (I’d link, but their video links don’t work too well…at all) that nixed Fox29 anchor Dave Huddleston allegedly met with station management at CBS3 for a lead anchor opening.

Hmm…

The Barnett-May team may not be bringing in the ratings that Larry and/or Alycia (depends on whom you ask, I suppose) brought in, and the station wants a fix.

Could Huddleston be that fix?

Why is Sarah Palin reading the news? September 20, 2008

Will the real Sarah Palin please stand up?

A cnn.com video says that an anchor in Bangor, Maine (pictured right) has been receiving hate mail and nasty phone calls just because she resembles John McCain’s running mate.

Cindy Michaels of WVII says she doesn’t think she looks like Palin — “I think I look like me.”

And now, just because I have to, here’s the real Sarah Palin…

Private Practice star Kate Walsh decided to pop in the Draught Horse at Temple last weekend. And, of course, TTN was there.

And I shook her hand.

…but I’m back.

I’m approaching the one month anniversary of my last post, and I figured I’d end the drought right now. After all, I’ve got my dedicated fans out there who rely on me to relay the latest on Philadelphia news, events and culture.

Or maybe I make that up.

I don’t expect to be updating this every day; my two jobs and capstones likely won’t allow it. However, I do hope to bring you the most interesting things I can find (including Kate Walsh and a Sarah Palin look-a-like — other than Tina Fey!)

Until the next post…
