1) Was the 5-second delay put in place after the incident because of the incident?

2) Why wasn’t the 5-second delay on for the introductions, anyway? That’s like not putting a delay on the first half of Super Bowl XXXVIII and not on Janet Jackson’s and Justin Timberlake’s half-time show.

Perhaps the real culprit here is the FCC.

In fairness to ESPN, when they released their statement, they stated that the competition itself was on a 5 second delay, but the introductions were not.
